Princess Yachts’ Y Class flagship, the Y95, is defined by performance, first-rate finishes and ever-flowing lines. An eye-turner at the docks, the Y95 maintains a stout yet relatively sporty profile from bow to stern, framing the largest hull window ever installed on a Princess.

The builder drew inspiration from its Y85 and X95 models while designing the Y95. “The Y95 builds on the best attributes of the X Class, appealing to our heartland, with a strong focus on elegant design and modern marine life,” says Antony Sheriff, executive chairman of Princess Yachts. “The Y95’s design is a classic example of form and function that beautifully comes together to create our largest yacht.”

Bernard Olesinski, Princess Yachts’ longtime naval architect, developed the Y95’s wave-piercing hull form. Italian design house Pininfarina helped create the interior and exterior spaces.

Notable outdoor entertainment spaces on the Y95 include multiple areas on the flybridge, the cockpit’s alfresco dining area, and the foredeck’s two lounge pads and forward-facing settee. When it’s time for a break from swimming and playing with the water toys, hop onto the hydraulic swim platform, open the transom door and step down into the cozy beach club with a C-shaped dinette, an L-shaped wet bar and a flat-screen TV.

Princess Yachts Y95
Princess offers four choices for the Y95’s interior. Rovere oak with a satin finish is standard. Options include ash and silver oak with a satin finish, or walnut with a gloss or satin finish. Courtesy Princess Yachts

The salon has a conventional layout with the lounge aft and formal dining forward. The furniture placement and nearly sole-to-ceiling windows are intended to keep guests connected with the sea. Facing sofas should allow for easy conversation and unobstructed views.

For the times when evenings on the water come to an end, accommodations include an on-deck owner’s stateroom and four belowdecks guest staterooms, all en suite. The owner’s space has a king berth, a settee to starboard and a desk to port. Belowdecks, a full-beam amidships stateroom creates an owner’s-level experience for VIPs with a king berth, settee and desk. The forepeak stateroom has a queen berth. The final two guest staterooms split the centerline abaft the forepeak stateroom, which has twin berths.

The Y95 is powered by twin 2,000 hp MAN V-12 diesels, giving it a reported 21- to 23-knot top hop. According to the builder, the Princess Y95 has a maximum range of more than 1,000 nautical miles at its 12- to 14-knot cruising speed.

Unique is a word that is easily overused, but when it comes to the overall aesthetic of the Ferretti Yachts Infynito 80, it’s an apropos descriptor.

This is especially true when taking in the yacht’s forward section. Look closely. In lieu of the traditional open, sun-drenched foredeck, this motoryacht’s superstructure stretches over it, all the way to the near-plumb bow, creating a semi-open deck that benefits from breezes, provides unobstructed vistas, and offers some protection from the elements. The space measures around 140 square feet and, according to Ferretti Yachts, can be set up with a dinette that has an extended table for alfresco meals. Or it can have a bar counter—owner’s choice.

As I surveyed this yacht’s semi-enclosed foredeck, the term observation deck came to mind. This is a place to take in the environment while still being protected from it. Courtesy Ferretti Yachts

Owners can also select the overall interior vibe on board via Ferretti’s classic and contemporary design schemes. The interiors were created by design firm Ideaeitalia. The classic layout taps into “earthy elements,” according to the boatbuilder, while the contemporary one focuses on “glowing woods and fabrics in fresh hues inspired by the colors of the sea.”

The connected-with-nature theme continues on the exterior decks in the use of lamellar teak with Forest Stewardship Council certification. Lamellar teak is a durable, engineered wood with teak on the top layer. The FSC designation means the wood has been harvested in a sustainable way.

Owners can select from two interior palettes. One is called classic, and the other is dubbed contemporary. The classic one is seen here and focuses on earth tones. Courtesy Ferretti Yachts

Adding to this build’s emphasis on sustainability, Ferretti Yachts uses regenerated leather, water-based paints and other recyclable materials.

The vessel has solar panels on the hardtop that collect energy to be stored in a series of 14 high-density lithium batteries housed in watertight steel containers, which reduces dependence on fuel-burning generators. This setup is part of what the builder calls Ferretti Sustainable Enhanced Architecture.

This motoryacht does, however, have traditional diesel powerplants. Ferretti Yachts says that with a pair of optional twin 1,400 hp MAN V-12 engines installed (standard engine specifications were not available at press time), the Infynito 80’s top speed should be about 23 knots, with a cruising speed of 18 knots. At a slow cruise of 12 knots, Ferretti Yachts says maximum range is around 1,000 nautical miles, based on preliminary data.

When Wally penned the wallywhy100—the smallest of the boatbuilder’s three-model why series, which also includes the wallywhy200 and wallywhy150—the goal was to create a vessel for those who like coupe-style yachts but want more performance and increased onboard comfort.

The wallywhy100 aims to achieve its mission in a few ways, starting with a single-level, main-deck layout. From the yacht’s shaded teak cockpit to the helm station forward, the real estate is open and surrounded by a low-profile glass superstructure, enhancing the airy vibe inside while creating a chic line outside. Wally stated in a press release that the main deck’s design is “about delivering the ultimate flexible open-enclosed space where the confining superstructure of a traditional yacht architecture seems to evaporate.”

wallywhy100
Under the hardtop are opposing settees, while a sliding glass door forward retracts to reveal a dining table for eight guests. Toni Meneguzzo

To access the main deck, there are four gently inclined steps up from the full-beam (18-foot-10-inch) foldout swim platform. Between those steps are two angled lounges for guests to catch some rays. Flare out the platform’s teak terraces and add a few loose chairs to form a beach club. This sea-level setup makes it easy to keep an eye on the kids when they’re swimming.

Under the hardtop are opposing settees, while a sliding glass door forward retracts to reveal a dining table for eight guests. With the doors tucked away, the delineation between inside and outside is nonexistent, especially when the side windows flanking the dining area are also retracted. Sliding glass doors forward of the dining space also retract, connecting two more settees as well as the helm station. With all of the doors and windows open, the wallywhy100 should feel like a supersize dayboat.

There are en suite accommodations belowdecks. A full-beam owner’s stateroom is aft, a VIP stateroom is to port, and a second guest stateroom is to starboard.

Power options are Volvo Penta IPS1200 or IPS1350 diesels. With the 1350s, Wally projects a 24-knot cruising speed and a 27-knot top-end speed.

The wallywhy100 will be on display at the Venice Boat Show at the end of May and at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

The Tiara Yachts EX 54 adds a second model to the builder’s EX series, which started with the flagship EX 60. The trademark of this series is each yacht’s flexibility, which is especially evident in the cockpit.

For entertainment-centric owners, the EX 54 has a lounge-module option with solid-surface countertops, a drawer-style refrigerator and an optional ice maker.

For angling aficionados, there is an adventure module that includes a sink with a cutting board, an optional livewell, five rod holders at the transom, an insulated cooler tub, tackle stowage with dividers, and an electric grill to cook the catch of the day.

There is also a glass patio module. In this setup, there is a laminated glass bulkhead, a high-gloss teak countertop, and adjustable ottomans that can lock into place. The ottomans are covered in Ultraleather, with four color options: Whitewater Beige, Lighthouse White, Coast Dolphin Gray and Sea Cliff Gray.

Multiple cockpit modules—ranging from entertaining to angling—create myriad ways to enjoy the water. Courtesy Tiara Yachts

In all versions, the EX 54 has three staterooms, accommodating six guests for extended cruising. The owners’ stateroom is amidships, spans the yacht’s full 15-foot-11-inch beam, and has a queen pedestal berth and an en suite head with a separate shower stall. The room also has ocean views via hullside windows flanking the space. Additional amenities include a 50-inch smart HDTV, 18,000-Btu Webasto air conditioning, a settee to starboard (a great place to read a book on the hook), a cedar-lined hanging locker and a backlit mirror.

Like the owners’ stateroom, the forepeak VIP has a queen berth. There are hullside windows and a skylight, and a 32-inch HDTV. The VIP has access to a head that also serves as the day head. A third stateroom is abaft and to starboard of the VIP with bunk berths for kids.

The main- deck interior has an L-shaped galley aft and to starboard with direct access to the cockpit. Across is a dining table that, at first glance, looks like an L-shaped layout. However, the companion helm seat to port slides forward to create a U-shaped scenario, increasing seating for another guest or two.

The helm is forward and to starboard, with two 22-inch Garmin GPSMap 8622 displays (a third is optional), a Stidd helm seat, and side-deck access via a sliding pilothouse door.

Power is a pair of Volvo Penta IPS950 diesels.

Clever Design

There are foldout terraces to port and starboard, increasing usable cockpit space. They have Herculan synthetic teak soles, and each side has an integrated boarding door.

Italia yachts—a builder known for its high-performing sailing yachts—is entering the powerboat market with its 43 Veloce, which is set to debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.

“Athletic” is a word that comes to mind when taking in this vessel’s profile. A razorlike stem looks purpose-built to dice a seaway, while the ever-flowing, curved shape in the hullsides hints at the 43 Veloce’s performance potential.

To that end, this 46-footer has not two, but three different propulsion options, including triple 400 hp Mercury Verado outboards, twin 380 hp Yanmar diesel sterndrives, and twin 440 hp or 480 hp Volvo Penta IPS diesels paired to pod drives. The builder projects a top-end speed of 35 to 39 knots with the inboard options, and the mid-40-knot range with the outboards. The outboard version and the sterndrive option also allow extra stowage for toys and gear when compared with the IPS-powered model.

Accommodations in all three versions are two staterooms and a single head belowdecks. A forepeak owner’s space with a queen berth and an amidships guest stateroom with twin berths are standard, but an amidships master or twin berths amidships with a forward lounge are also available.

Italia Yachts 43 Veloce
The Italia Yachts 43 Veloce’s two-seat helm station is notable for its open-air arrangement and unimpeded side-deck access. Courtesy Italia Yachts

Outside, the cockpit has U-shaped seating around a teak table that lowers to form a sun pad. Just forward is seating for six with a teak table—all protected under the yacht’s hardtop. Fold-out decks increase cockpit real estate and create a beach-club vibe when the sun pad is set up.

With the 43 Veloce, Italia Yachts has created a dayboat with intriguing lines, luxury, speed, and a healthy set of options for owners to stylize the ride to suit their on-the-water lifestyle. It’s a yacht that has mass-appeal potential.

Command and Control

The Italia Yachts 43 Veloce’s two-seat helm station is notable for its open-air arrangement and unimpeded side-deck access. The single-piece windshield is raked, adding to the yacht’s sporty lines without reducing headroom. Helm electronics options are from Garmin, with tunes from Fusion.

At just over 52 feet length overall, the Riviera 46 Sports Motor Yacht is the Australian builder’s new entry-level model in the series, and it’s set up to host good-size parties and to cruise with friends and family.

For starters, consider the after section of this yacht’s main deck. Between the cockpit and the shaded alfresco deck, there is 115 square feet of socializing real estate. The swim platform has two transom doors leading to the cockpit with a barbecue, a fridge/freezer, a wet bar and an ice maker. Forward, there is a settee on either side, with a folding teak table to port and the option to place a TV in the forward portside corner.

The 46’s interior space is set up to serve guests easily too. The galley is aft and to starboard, accessed through a sliding-glass door from the alfresco deck. The galley has a two-burner cooktop, a microwave and a fridge/freezer, along with a C-shaped countertop with plenty of space for meal prep. Plates and beverages can be sent to guests relaxing on the alfresco deck via a starboard-side window that lifts upward or can be brought up to guests on the flybridge by way of portside stairs.

Forward, there is a U-shaped settee to port with a dining table and an L-shaped settee to starboard. This is a good place for lunch with a protected view on days when the weather makes being outdoors uncomfortable.

Riviera 46 Sports Motor Yacht
The 46 Sports Motor Yacht’s forepeak master has an island double berth with two hatches above for fresh air. There are also overhead cabinets and two cedar-lined hanging lockers. Courtesy Riviera

Up top, the 46’s flybridge has virtually uninterrupted, 360-degree views and more gathering spaces. The forward section has a two-seat settee to port and a C-shaped settee with a dinette to starboard. A wet bar in the after portside corner helps serve guests without having to go downstairs.

Belowdecks, there are three staterooms and two heads. The forepeak master has an en suite head to starboard and a portside closet. Then, there are two twin-berth guest staterooms amidships and a day head to port that doubles as the portside accommodation’s en suite head. Riviera also gives owners the option to place a double berth in the portside stateroom.

The 46’s sole helm station is located on the flybridge. With two multifunction displays and two helm seats, it’s positioned in the after starboard corner and offers clean sightlines. There are two seating areas forward for guests. Courtesy Riviera

Standard power is twin 600 hp Volvo Penta D8 IPS800s, with an option to upgrade to twin 725 hp Volvo Penta D11 IPS950s. With the latter power package, Riviera says the 46 Sports Motor Yacht can hit 34.5 knots at 2,560 rpm. At 24.5 knots and 2,100 rpm, range is reportedly 286 nautical miles.

Windy Boats has launched a sports cruiser that combines getaway speed with creature comforts above and belowdecks. The 40 Camira RS is the latest model in the Sweden-based builder’s Classic Sports Cruiser Series. At 40 feet length overall, this yacht is the largest model in the series, which includes seven other boats starting at 27 feet long. Hans Jørgen Johnsen penned the vessel’s hull form, and interior design and styling are by Design Unlimited.

The cockpit of the 40 Camira RS has a flexible setup that’s suitable for easy water access, lounging and alfresco meals. Here, owners can choose either white or black for furniture colors. Beneath the aft-facing sun pad for at least two people, there is stowage to hold underwater scooters, paddleboards and Fliteboards. Windy says integrated charging and a compressed air pump are here too.

For more privacy, owners of the 40 Camira RS can add a door leading to the forepeak lounge. Here, the space can have a dedicated berth or a convertible sofa. Courtesy Windy Boats

Take two steps up on the port side, and there is forward-facing bench seating separated from the aft sun pad by a backrest. It’s opposite an L-shaped settee to starboard. A dining table connects the whole space. The table can be lowered with a filler cushion to expand the 40 Camira RS’ relaxation possibilities. Additionally, there is an aft-facing sun bed to port. Windy says a cockpit wet bar is optional. This entire space is protected by a full-beam T-top with a sunroof.

The two-seat helm station is to starboard; to port, there is a single companion seat. Four centerline steps adjacent to the helm station lead to the bow, where there is another sun pad with backrests that can be elevated.

Belowdecks, the 40 Camira RS has U-shaped seating in the forepeak that converts to a double berth. Owners have the option to make this sofa a permanent berth. To starboard near amidships, there is a TV, and abaft it there is a head with a separate shower. The galley is to port. In the after portside corner, owners can opt for more stowage and appliances, or for a cabin with double berths.

The 40 Camira RS comes with twin inboard power, and 440 hp Volvo Penta D6 DPI diesels are the largest option. The builder reports a top hop of 44 knots. Twin 400 hp Volvos and twin 370 hp Yanmars are also available. Another version of the Camira, the SX, comes with outboard options, including triple 300 hp Yamahas or twin 450 hp Yamahas.

Versatility is at the heart of the 47 Molokai, which will be the second and larger offering in the Aquila Power Catamarans Offshore range. The vessel measures 49 feet, 4 inches length overall with a 14-foot-7-inch beam. The center-console design builds on the offshore-fishing foundations laid by the 28 Molokai while enhancing entertainment abilities and granting weekending opportunities for a couple.

For anglers, the 47 Molokai has 16 rod holders mounted on the gunwales, another 10 at the bow, six at the transom, eight on the hardtop and four welded into the grab rails just abaft the second-row helm seating. Aquila conceals a tackle stowage box, and a bait- and tackle-rigging station in the backrests of the three-person aft-facing mezzanine seating. Anglers also have tackle-box stowage beneath the second-row helm seating and to port. There are flush-mounted stowage lockers to port and starboard.

Standard power for the Aquila 47 Molokai is twin 600 hp Mercury V-12s, and there is an option for quad 400 hp Mercury V-10s. Courtesy Aquila Power Catamarans

Aft, there are two 42.5-gallon transom livewells by Hooker Electric. Here, there is also stowage with a lid on the outboard side of each livewell, and owners heading out for big game can opt to convert these compartments into tuna tubes. The 47 Molokai  has two 90-gallon in-deck fish boxes, each with dedicated macerator pump-outs.

Aquila’s 47 Molokai has a single cabin with a queen-size berth, a wet head and two entrances. Above, there’s an acrylic ceiling window and two manually opening hatches. Courtesy Aquila Power Catamarans

Whereas the 28 Molokai had seating for eight, including its two helm seats, the 47 Molokai has seating for 17 throughout the yacht: 14 forward-facing and three aft-facing positions. There are two foldaway stern bench seats that can seat two people each, in addition to the two rows of seven total helm seats and three foredeck lounge seats. Forward of this seating, there is a sun pad.

Abaft the cockpit’s aft-facing seating, there is a table, but it’s removed if owners choose an outdoor cooking setup instead of the seats. In either configuration, owners will have a place to stow drinks and snacks here, with insulated coolers beneath the seating.

The 47 Molokai has a double-stepped hull design that Aquila says provides better handling and stability, and reduces drag. The hull, deck and cockpit sole are infused with vinylester resin, and there’s an infused-fiberglass structural grid. Primary forward and aft bulkheads are made of carbon fiber, while the secondary bulkheads are vinylester-resin-infused. The 47 Molokai’s hardtop is made of carbon fiber.

Scout Boats’ latest flagship aims to impress in more ways than one. When describing the 67 LX Series, the South Carolina-based builder coined the phrase “Expect everything.” This five-outboard owner-operator center-console is capable of offshore angling adventures and entertaining guests from the stern to the bow (even belowdecks), and it has a reported eye-watering 52-knot speed. Scout also says the 67 is beachable. It will be offered in three versions: Sport (which will be the first version built), Sportfish and Cruise.

Forward and beneath the hardtop, there is a settee with a dinette across from additional seating for one or two. This space can be connected with the interior by lowering the window forward. Inside, there is a bar with three stools. The galley is to starboard and abaft two of four helm seats. It’s equipped with two refrigerator/freezer drawers, a two-burner cooktop, a microwave convection oven and a sink. Across from the galley is a U-shaped lounge with a dining table and a flip-down 40-inch TV.

Belowdecks, there are three staterooms and what Scout calls a “theater room.” This approximately 66-square-foot space has a settee to starboard that converts to an additional berth. Also in the theater room are a 32-to-43-inch TV, a beverage center, a refrigerator and an ottoman. Lighting can be controlled by overhead and hullside power blinds. To port is the day head, which can also be accessed via the portside VIP stateroom. A twin-berth guest stateroom is to starboard and aft. The forepeak master has an island queen berth.

Power for the Scout 67 LXS is five 600 hp Mercury Verado V-12 engines. Scout says cruising speed is approximately 40 knots, and range is 400 nautical miles.

Rigged-and-Ready Cockpit

The cockpit on Hull No. 1 of the semicustom 67 LXS will have two livewells, a built-in seat with stowage aft, and aft-facing seating forward. Owners can add stowage, an ice chest, a cooktop and a sink. Deployable side decks increase the 13-foot-3-inch beam to 19 feet, 5 inches.

Superheroes come in all shapes and sizes, and with different powers, such as super speed and teleportation. While the Princess X80 can’t turn back time by reversing the planet’s rotation, it does have some superpowers of its own. The newest and second entry in the X Class is characterized by what the British builder calls a “super flybridge.” That, combined with a reported 31-knot top hop and an optional 2,324-gallon fuel tank, means the X80 can actually teleport its owner and guests to another world.

Atop the “super flybridge”—which Princess says has more than 30 percent more space compared with other flybridge yachts of this length—there are four gathering spaces. Aft, there are two stern-facing L-shaped settees with two coffee tables (the portside sofa can also face forward). Forward in the portside corner, there is another L-shaped settee accompanied by four free-standing chairs surrounding a dining table. A wet bar is to starboard.

Moving inside, there is a sofa to starboard and a single centerline helm seat forward, with companion seating to port. Forward on the flybridge, there are two sun pads that can hold three guests each.

The main deck is dedicated to socializing, with a forward-facing C-shaped settee and a folding teak dining table in the cockpit. In the salon, an L-shaped settee and a coffee table are to port. An additional, smaller sofa is to starboard, with a 55-inch TV abaft it.

The galley is forward and to starboard. Here, there are Miele appliances, including a four-burner cooktop, a microwave/convection oven and grill, a full-height fridge, a freezer, a dishwasher and an ice maker atop wood soles. An additional dining space can be found forward of the galley, along with an L-shaped settee and free-standing chairs. There is also a day head on the main deck, located to port and across from the galley.

Accommodations belowdecks are for eight guests in four en suite staterooms. The master stateroom is amidships and full-beam, with a vanity to port and a sofa to starboard. Its head and the closet are abaft a double berth, mitigating noise from the engine room. Forward of the master are a twin-berth guest stateroom to port, a double-berth  guest stateroom to starboard and a forepeak VIP. An optional main-deck master comes with a private sun deck.
